Thinking ahead

Now that Christmas is over, I am really starting to think about what to get my sweetie for Valentines day. Yeah, I know I am really thinking ahead on that but it will be here before you know it. I was thinking about maybe getting him something like sports gifts. I mean, a guy won't want a bunch of flowers or a stuffed teddy bear.

Money saving tip for batteries

If you are like our family, if you don't already use rechargeable batteries, you really should start. Not only is it nicer to not be throwing all of those dead batteries in the landfill, you also end up saving money over time. If you have or are going to have a battery operated baby swing this is a big MUST. In fact, 4D rechargeable batteries and a charger would be a great baby shower gift. It might seem odd, but the parents to be would be very appreciative later. Could litterally save them over $100 or much more. We have rechargeable for all of the kids toys and it is very nice to know that we are not "out of batteries". Plus, if you check your paper or watch your CVS/Walgreens sales papers, there are a lot of times coupons for extra savings that are only good for the rechargeables.

More presents

My mother in law sent our kids some more presents for Christmas this comes to a total of 3 that we received. We got the last one today. It was so hard to get into. We had to use a pair of scissors because she taped it so well. I could not find my box cutter to save my life. But we got it open and boy were the boys happy. It was like Christmas all over again...everything including the fighting over who got what. It was cute though.

Internet and phone

My husband called today and got our Internet service and phone service dropped from $100 a month to about $45 a month. And the best part is our Internet will be twice as fast and we can keep our phone number. Before we had unlimited long distance because I had a phone job for a while, but now I don't and can't because of the wild youngins so don't need that. We hardly ever talk on the phone so that was really a waste. We now have unlimited incoming calls, and unlimited local calling out. We just have to pay .10 a minute when calling non local and it is included with our Internet service. If we decide that we need unlimited long distance, we can always get Skype for another $3.00 a month too. So we cut that bill more than half and have better Internet and it is through the same company too. I am so happy. So, if you are trying to cut your bills down, see if there is something like this in your area. Ours was through Windstream but I am sure there are others similar. Let me know if you have done anything like this or are thinking about doing so. I would love to hear about it.

Looking for a briefcase or bag?

I am looking for a nice case for my new laptop. I need to keep it safe from my kids and everything else (but mostly my kids). My oldest one took all the keys off of my last laptoop and lost 4 of them altogethr. So it will have to be something childproof. I do want a Vera Bradley bag but maybe I should look into Zero Halliburton one instead.

Ways to get what you want cheaper

Now is the time to be watching Craigs list and also Ebay for things that people got for Christmas that they just didn't want to keep. A lot of items will be sold at deep discounts since the owner didn't have to spend anything on the items in the first place. So if you are still wanting that CD or Video game or even that sweater that didn't fit the recipient, keep an eye out. You will be surprised at what you will find.

Looking to save?

Are you looking to save money on your monthly bills? Well you might want to check into your car insurance. You could check into raising your deductible or getting rid of your towing package if you already belong to an auto club or just don't drive that much or maybe even getting rid of full coverage on that 10 year old car. Or maybe look into getting another insurance company all together might be a good idea? If you have recently changed your insurance policy due to finances, let me know what you have done?

Buy buy buy!

Well, now is the time to buy things that you didn't get for Christmas. There are so many sales going on right now that it is just crazy. Up to 80% off at some stores. I am not able to make it out right now due to being under the weather and my kids being under the weather as well, but I can shop on line as well. There are a lot of sales on the most popular online stores right now so if there are things you didn't buy for that special someone or for yourself, go now and buy!

Looking for cute shoes?

If you are a woman, you are probably like me and just love shoes. But sometimes it isn't easy to afford what you want. I just found this really cool site calleddani black shoes. They have some of the cutest shoes shoes too. They have everything from boots, platforms, pumps and party shoes too. They are even having a really great sale right now for 40% off. Isn't that great?
The shoe that I found that I really like the most is the Candy pump. It is so cute! I could see wearing it with a nice read dress for Christmas or even a black dress for just going out on the town with my hubby. It looks to be really versatile to me which is what I like. I am also thinking of getting a nice set of boots. Mine are sort of getting old because I have loved them so much over the years. Maybe get the Herbie boots? I think that they would go with a lot of my wardrobe and they are so cute! So check out the site and see what shoes, boots sandals and more you would like to add to your shoe collection too!

During this time

This is a little off topic but I just wanted to bring this point up. During this time of people struggling and people being out of work etc. If you have any spare toys that you are thinking of thinning out of your kids collection because of getting new ones for Christmas, right now is a great time to get rid of them on Craig's List of FreeCycle. If they are like new and you paid a lot for it, I would say try using Craig's list. If it is just small stuff, try FreeCycle. It may make someones Christmas.

Looking to start a business?

If you are like a lot of people during this downturn in the economy, you may have been laid off or just tired of working for someone else. Maybe you are thinking about starting your own business? From what I have been reading lately, now is actually a pretty good time to start one as long as it is in the right field. One of the hardest things though with starting a business is to just get your name known. That is one reason for possibly getting a franchise instead of starting from scratch. I just found this site that has some really great Franchise Information too. And they offer their expertise to franchise buyers absolutely free to save the buyer both time and money. Isn't that great? So nothing to loose and nothing up front either. Which I really love.I think that if I was going to start a business right now, I would definately look into a franchise. So check them out. I mean, I feel that it is a lot safer right now and easier too. Have any of you ever owned a franchise? I would love to hear from you and find out about your experiences.

Make Money getting a prescripton?

Yes you read right! Getting a prescription does not always have to cost you a lot. We do have insurance though. Our prescriptions cost anywhere from $10-$40 depending on what it is and if there is a generic out for it. If you have coverage like we do, make sure to watch the newspaper and even the store flyers for $10-$30 free gift card offers which Rx purchase. They have these for Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens and Kmart among others. Some of these will even take the competitor's coupons as well so that you can get the gift card at the place you want one for. If you don't have insurance though, don't forget about Walmart offering $3 Rx for many of their drugs and also Publix has a list of free ones.
In this case, it really pays to look around a bit.

Looking for a great watch at a great price?

I just found this really great site to buy name brand Quartz Watches at a really signifigant discount. I picked out the watch above for my husband it's the Aston model and it is 59% off right now. Talk about a slick deal! I would love to get it for my husband for Christmas or maybe even a nice annivrsary present. At the watchery, they have so many watches to choose from too. Wheather you are looking for a man's or woman's watch, you will find one that you like.

Right now, they are having a site wide sale of up to 80% off luxury watches. That is a deep discount. They are also offering free shipping which I just love! They are also having a deal of the day where you can save even more. And right now, thy are even saying that they can have your gift to you before the holidays. How great is that?

So if you have procrastinated and still need to get that one special gift, go ahead and check them out I am sure you will find something special for that special someone of you list. I hope my husband is reading this as well. I would just love a new watch!

Paying bills on time

I know the heading of this post doesn't really sound like something that is slick. But it is. I had to pay my son's PreK fees today. Yes I hated paying the $101 right before Christmas, but their policy is that they charge $5 if you pay after the last day of the month. They actually count today the last day of the month though because it was the last day of school until January. Well, if you think about it, if you pay on time, then you save the $5 which is almost 5%. Remember that old saying? "A penny saved is a penny earned". I feel this way as well. So just think about that next time you think about putting of that bill that could wait until later.

Free software to encrypt or zip documents

I just found out about this really cool free software (personal use only)that you can get from www.securezip.com. It is free software that you can use to download and encrypt documents for safe delivery through the Internet. I love this idea. I have found myself having to email my social security number and other very personal information and not feeling safe about it. Now I can use this instead and really feel safe about it. How cool is that?
Also, if you go to www.DecryptandDrive.com where right now, PKWARE is giving away really cool prizes including a Honda scooter, Wii games, bicycles, gas cards and more!

Save money when going out.

We live about 20 minutes from the nearest real shopping area. So that means that most likely we will have to get something to eat while out with the kids. Someone is bound to get hungry. As well as if you go into say the Walmart Super Center with a full belly or at least not starving, you come out not buying up the whole place. Today, while Ethan was at school, my brother, my 2 year old and I decided to go finish up with our Christmas shopping. We loaded up and I realized that we hadn't eaten yet. So I ran back inside and grabbed a box drink for my son and a Mountain Dew for my brother and I to share. You will think I am so cheap for doing this but...We went to Burger King and spent less than $4 for all of us. Jacob got a plain Whopper Jr. (to go with his box drink), my brother and I each got a Whopper Jr as well but had it all the way (to go with our Mountain Dew). And I asked for two ice waters. We poured out the water and poured in the Mountain Dew and there we go. A $4 meal for 3 people:) Of course we could have just taken the time to eat at home but we just didn't have it as we had to come back and get Ethan from school. It also gave us just enough of a treat to say we did it and we didn't buy out Walmart either:)
Do you have a cheap trick or slick idea that you do when you go out? Tell me about it I would love to hear it.

Buy products online?

Are you one of those people that likes to research items before you buy them online? Well I sure am. I love to read reviews on products and see what other people think about things before I spend my hard earned money on something that may not be the way I expect it to be. Well I have now found this really cool review site that I can go to to find out information from anything from home and garden guides to fitness plans to learning to how to play the piano. Isn't that awesome? I sure think it is. It will same me so much time trying to find a good place to go to find out information on products. There are over 5,000 Hot product reviewed too. So they are bound to have whatever you are looking for.
So if you are like me and you are tired of being disappointed when buying some things online, check out this site. It will save you time and money. So you will know exactly what you are buying online and aren't disappointed in the quality. So go ahead and check them out I am sure that you won't be disappointed.

Save your clothes!

Just another "Slick Tip" to keep your clothing looking newer longer. My 5 year old loves the tshirts with designs on them. They do not last long if you wash and dry them like all of the other clothes. I make sure to wash them in cold water only. I try to put them into a short wash instead of normal wash. I also make sure to turn them inside out. The number one thing though that I do is I make sure to hand them to dry instead of putting them into the dryer. He still has shirts that we bought when school started and they still look brand new from doing this:) My brother commented just yesterday about a Spider man shirt that Ethan was wearing. He asked where he got it from? And I told him "Walmart when school started". He thought it was brand new:P

Lipovox the super food?

I just read about a super food called Lipovox. It is supposed to help get rid of acne, wrinkles and help you loose weight. Hey where do I sign up? I mean could you imagine how many doctors and surgeons could be put out of business by this stuff? I think I am going to look into it a little more thoroughly and see what more I can learn. I am really fascinated by it now.

Cheap phone service

Well, we have finally found a way to cut down on our phone service. At one time, we were paying $100 a month just for 2 cell phones for emergencies/to get in touch with each other. We have gotten that down to $20 every 3 months, because we only need one phone, and we have gone to a prepaid phone through Virgin Mobile. It is really all that we need. There is also a way to get free minutes every month watching commercials. Each one is supposed to be a minute long (some much shorter) and for watching and rating it, you get a free minute. You can do up to 5 per day. We have never gone over our amount and each month our number of minutes roll over so we have more.
When we first moved into our house (3 years ago), we were not able to just have DSL without phone service in our area. I just checked again and now we are. We are going to get our Internet/phone bill down to $45 from $100. So if you had the same situation as us, you might want to check into it again and see if it is available. We are going to use Skype out which is only $3 a month to make calls out so that we don't use our minutes up on our cell phone. But we will be able to get important calls and see who has called by our caller ID on the cell.

Performance parts?

When I finally pay my car off next year, I would love to get some cool performance parts for it. I mean it is a red Chevy Cobalt and it already has a cute little spoiler on it so it looks fast right? I might as well make it that way. Although, the only time that I will be able to drive it fast is when the kids are in school, but it will give me something to look forward to when I am home and lonely because everyone is at school.

Save money on baby food

One great way to save money if you are a new mom is to make your own baby food. My 6 month old has been exclusively breast fed so that has saved us a lot of money. Now it is time for him to move onto better things. I got one of those self feeders (the kid that has the little mesh screen that the baby chews on to get the food out). I bought this for putting bananas in instead of banana baby food. I just take the tip off of a banana that I am going to give to my 2 year old and put it into the mesh thing. Seth loves it too. He is a chewer but does not have any teeth yet. The feeder was $3.99 at CVS (probably cheaper other places). The baby food for 2 containers of banana was $1.39. So you see how quickly you will save money. The only drawback is that the mesh fabric is that it is sort of hard to clean but worth it because it is saving money and it is better for the baby. I have been siting him in his swing with it while we eat dinner and it makes him feel like he is doing what the rest of us are doing which is nice.

Want to loose weight?

There are so many different ways to loose weight now that there really is not an excuse to be overweight (other than a medical issue).I mean there are gyms that you can join, special drinks, groups to join and even fat burners. I mean the options are really endless. The choice is yours to make. And if for some reason those options don't work, there is always gastric bypass or liposuction right?

Baby clothing suggestion

Being a mom of three boys, I have bought my share of kids clothes. One slick mom suggestion that I have for moms to be or new moms, is to buy clothes a size too large. No of course you would have a few outfits for going out to the store or to visit friends and family that do fit right. But at my house, I nor my kids care if their clothes fit. Especially the baby. I never by the cute little newborn clothes that my 2nd son never would have fit in anyway. I don't even by 0-3 month size. I start out with size 3-6 months. I mean if you are low on cash like we are, your family should understand that the baby is in clothes a little too big right? If they don't, then maybe they will buy you some. In a family like ours that has lots of different sizes, this really helps cut down on the clutter as well. So don't go wasting your money on clothes that will only fit for a couple of weeks. Oh and try to shop at consignment shops for nice quality clothes that will last a while as well. Hope this helps someone out there. Let me know some of your kid clothes money saving tips as well.

Looking for some good games?

One thing that I have been trying to do to save our family money is trying to stay home more. But of course it can get boring if you don't have things to do. There is this really cool site where they have some of the most popular free online games. So you don't even have to go out and buy the games. It is totally free. They even have my favorite one which is Tetris. So if you are into playing games or have friends or family that are, check out this site. I am sure that you will really enjoy it.

Great deal on toys

Right now Amazon.com is having great deals on toys. If you haven't used this site before, you really do need to check it out. For most items, if your order totals over $25, then you would qualify for free shipping. So, if you haven't already finished your Christmas shopping, go ahead and check them out and see what they have at a really good price.

What's cheaper than a tummy tuck?

I just watched something on the History Channel about the history of the corset. I am glad that things have changed so much and they aren't made from wale bones anymore. In fact, there are some really nice sexy ones that I have been looking into for the slimming effect since having 3 babies has left me with a little extra in the tummy area. Sure sounds better than having any sort of surgery and a lot cheaper too.

Yummy cheap meal

I still need to go to the grocery store for this week. We have been eating Turkey for the last few days so haven't really worried about it. Well tonight we didn't have anything for dinner so I asked my husband to pick up a loaf of bread on the way home. I made French toast. Talk about a cheap meal. And the kids love it too.

All that is needed is eggs (already had), butter or margrine (had), powdered sugar (had), cinimmon (had) and syrup (had), as well as some bread.

Took about 30 minutes to make enough for the 5 of us that eat it so far (sorry Seth:(

Great meal if you are strapped for cash though and it is kid friendly.

Are you stressed?

Crazy question isn't it? Well I know that I sure am stressed. From trying to make sure that my kids are happy and healthy (during flu season), to the economy, personal relationships and even holiday shopping I know that I am. I think most people right now are as well, at least all of the adults that I know are. So it got me thinking what sort of help with stress reduction is out there to just relieve stress? Well there is stressinstitute.com. They have been around since 1995 and helping people with all of the day to day stressers that I mentioned above plus more as well. So if you are feeling stressed. Check them out.

Black Friday

I just wanted to say that I am excited about this coming Black Friday. I am going to stay home this year and see what I can score online. Last time I went to Walmart at 5am and was back home before anyone even woke up:) But I don't want to risk it this time with 3 kids. I know one of them will wake up.
So if you go shopping on Black Friday, come here and post what you got. I really would love to know what other moms are buying and what great deals you got. As for me I think I will stay in my warm house at my computer:)

Got to find something to treat acne

My teenage brother lives with me and has really bad skin. I'm not sure if it is because he doesn't take care of it and wash daily or if he is really needing some good acne treatment. I know that acne runs in our family and that I had it as well, although I actually lucked out and had a less troublesome amount of it. I know that acne can affect your health and personal relationships as well. Especially when you are a teen like he is. I'm going to have to try to find something to help him out.

Great Cell phones and 60 free minutes!

If you are looking for CHEAP cell phone service this is the place to get it. I have Virgin Mobile and I pay $20 every 90 days and it is more than sufficient for my uses. If you just need a cell phone for an emergency, to check on the kids every once in a while or even to give to a kid and don't want the added dreadful surprise of a HUGE cell phone bill this is the place. There is no $1 a day charge just to use your own cell phone either like a lot of other plans. And if you sign and use this promo code: E9pP7VVJ you will get 60 free minutes added to your account. Isn't that cool? So check them out and don't forget to use the promo code. I have had their service for 2 years now and when I lost my first phone, I had a balance of about $70 still on my account and I was able to use it to buy a new phone! So I treated myself to a really nice one and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket at all! Not even to have them send it to me. I got it in about 2 days too which was so nice. I am hooked!

Looking for more outdoor storage?

I have been talking to my husband about getting one of those carports. We bought a house that does not have a garage at all and I would really like to be able to put all of the kids bikes and other larger outdoor toys under one. I would also like to park our red car under it so that it doesn't fade like a lot of red cars end up doing. My brother is also getting a red motorcycle this weekend so it would be nice to put it under one as wells so that it doesn't get nasty from the weather.

Save $10 off of $25 at JC Penney

I love JC Penney's. Right now you can save $10 off of an order of $25 or more either online or in the store as well. If you use the code JCP online you will get it or if you go to the store you can use this Coupon. This is right in time for Christmas. I wish i could go to town and use the coupon myself right now. But my 5 year old is home sick and not able to go out and about shopping right now. At least I have the online code to use though. The think I really love about this is that you can either shop online or at the store.
Have fun and happy shopping.

Looking for home security?

I have started thinking more about getting a home security system lately. The bad economy always brings more crime along with it as people start to feel more desperate. I do not currently have a system, but we had one when I was a teenager. It really did make me feel a lot safer. We knew if any windows or doors were opened etc. It was really nice. One thing that I didn't like way back then was trying to get in the house and disarm the alarm at the keypad before the alarm went off. Now they actually have a think that you just wave in front of the keypad to disarm it. How cool is that? The company that I have heard the most about is ADT. I have seen their ads and they have been around for a really long time as well. I think I am going to check into them some more.

Looking to dress up your home?

My husband and I have been sitting around trying to think of ways that would make our quaint little home a lot more elegant. One of the things that I thought of was some really nice crown molding. You always see those in nicer better built homes. It does a lot for the homes presentation.

Well I found a really cool site were they sell really nice and large selection of crown molding and other things as well as Corbels. They are another thing that I think really dresses up a home. At invitinghome.com, their products are CFC free, formaldehyde free, hypoallergenic, and recyclable. Which in this day and age is great. I am so glad that going through them takes out the guess work with safety. I would hate to think about buying something that looks great but that might make one of my boys sick.

Another thing that I like about them is that they have an installation guide as well. Which is great for me since I have never installed anything like this before. But I am sure willing to give it a try. They even have some great decorating ideas. So that you can see what things go well together. Which I think is great.

Right now they have some really good special offers going on as well. Right now they are offering FREE SHIPPING on Molding orders over $500. So this is a great time to buy that crown molding that you have been looking at. How can you beat that? They also have many other special offers as well. So check them out.

Wow I was just cruising around the net and found this really cool coupon for a BOGO (buy one get one free) entree at TGI FRIDAYS. If you haven't already gone there before you really should check them out. I love their Cobb salad. I was craving one the whole time that I was pregnant. Love the alvacado. Good online Masters in Nursing program

I know that I am going to pursue a nursing degree when my youngest is in school. I already know where I am going to go for my 4 year nursing degree but I have been trying to find where I want to go for my online MS nursing degree. I think that I found a really good school to go to. It is through ST. Xavier's Masters in Nursing program. It is totally online except for one weekend of applied experience at the campus. That will be really easy to do around my kids schedules. I would be able to do my class work either before they get up or when they go to bed each night and only be away from them for one day at the campus. Their site is also very easy to navigate as well which is a certainly a plus as well.

Great place to buy books

I just realized what I want to do for a small business I think. I would love to make cakes and cupcakes. We don't have good bakery around here for over 20 miles so I think it would do well in our town. I was just at Amazon books and they have some really great deals on books that show how to decorate cakes and cupcakes. They actually have any sort of book you can think of including test books as well. The ones that I want have free shipping as well because I would be ordering more than $25 worth. I am so glad that I found this site!

I am always trying to get the Sunday paper so that I can get the coupons. Start a small business?

You know with the bad economy and the issue of it being hard to find a job lately, I think that small business opportunities are probably the way to go. I mean you can set your own hours and also set a goal of what you want to make. I think it would be great to be your own boss. I think that the sky is the limit.

More video games!

My husband is seriously thinking about getting a PS3. We each had a PS1 when we got married and traded both of them to get him a PS2. He then went through 2 of those. He then built a really nice gaming computer complete with neon fan lights. Now he is again missing his Play Station. I remember that he played that thing for hours on end. Maybe if I let him get that, he will let me get a new TV?

Watch out when trying to buy something through classified adds.

Okay, my brother that lives with me is only 19. He is trying to find a motorcycle so that he can afford to go to work in another town. He will have cheaper gas and no insurance to pay either.
Well, he found a bike on a popular online motorcycle classifieds site and decided that he wanted to buy it. Well they guy told him that he would ship it and gave him the name of a shipper that he would use and he had to create an account and then Pay VIA WESTERN UNION and the contact name was in LONDON UK!. I wrote him a really respectful message back and he said that he has used this service before blah, blah, blah. I asked if he would take PayPal or any other form of payment because I didn't feel comfortable with this situation and that even Craig's List warns of Scams with Western Union and foreign countries. Needless to say. No email back. I also did a who is on this guy and the "third party shipper's website" was only registered on October 16Th of 2008! One other thing that i noticed when going back into my brother's email was that my brother asked him how much it would cost to ship and the guy said "don't worry about the cost to ship as I will handle all of that". He also used lots of "!" instead of periods. I also googled the guy's address that was in the supposed third party's account information and it was a resteraunt. So please, please, please! Do your research if you are buying from a private person online. My brother almost lost $3,000. I have also flagged the listing as well.
Let me know if you have ever come across anything like this?

Yummy popcorn gift tins

You know, I have really been starting to get into the Christmas spirit early this year. I can not stand to buy gifts last minute because then you never can find what you are looking for and then you spend a lot of money on something that the person doesn't even want. This started to get me thinking. I really would like to make it simple this year with getting things for my extended family. Maybe get them all similar versions of the same thing. So I started thinking about that a bit. What would they all like? Well I know that everyone loves popcorn. It smells good, it tastes good and it's pretty good for you as well. So I decided that I would get them all popcorn gift tins. There is this really cute shop called Mom and Popcorn and you can have the gifts shipped as well so you don't even have to go into the store. But it also looks like a really cute store as well if you are nearby and would like to go in and check it out. How great is that? They have all sorts of flavors to choose from as well so they will have a really nice variety so that I don't have to get everyone exactly the same thing so that their presents will be a little unique. They also have really yummy looking home make candies as well. Check them out. I think I might order some for myself as well.

Free Tetris online

I don't know if my readers are as old as I am and remember playing the grate game of tetris on Nintendo. I started really wanting to play that game but no longer have my old NES to play it on. I also don't feel like buying one when my son is getting a game cute for Christmas. I tried looking for one for the game cube but just couldn't find one. So I checked to see if there was a PC version. Sure enough there is! And it is totally free too. So now I will probably make less money because I am going to be online playing the most addictive game in the world:) Hey at least its good clean and free fun right? http://www.online-game.tv/play/tetris

For my anniversary

My husband and I have recently been talking about taking a nice cruise. I have been looking around and there are some really good deals on Caribbean cruises these days. That is what I would like to do for my 10Th wedding anniversary which won't be for another almost 2 years but then the kids will be old enough to leave with a friend as well. Gives me lots of time to plan and purchase things for the trip as well. Have you gone on a cruise before? Did you enjoy it?

If you need to send a fax

I have been trying to figure out a great way to send faxes from home. We live in a small town and there is not anyone around that will send faxes like Office Depot etc. Most of the online fax companies charge a set up fee and a monthly fee (to be able to send some do it free for receiving faxes) and you have to give your credit card info to them and then be at their mercy to cancel if you choose to do so. My computer does not have a phone jack in it to be able to just use the software to send it over the phone line anymore either so that option is pretty much out for me. I have found many used fax machines online on FreeCycle, Ebay and other sites as well. Most actually go for the same price as one month of online fax service and it is also more secure (feel more comfy sending my credit card info and such). So that is probably what I am going to go with. If anyone out there knows of a cheaper way to go which is also pretty secure, please let us know.

Yummy appetizers

When I go out for dinner to a resteraunt, I usually like to order one of the appetizers instead of an actual meal. It usually is much cheaper and it is usually a smaller portion of food as well which is great when you are trying to watch your weight like I am or at least should be. I like to make them at home too and then have a main course instead of making a desert for after dinner. It is a lot easier to get the kids down for the night that way.

Go*gle is our friend:)

Just so you know, if you are going to be guying anything online, make sure to go*gle for discount codes for the store or the site. There are a lot of times codes just sitting around and waiting to be used. I just did this because I am still about to buy some new domain names and want to make sure that I get a great deal when I do so. So just a tip and don't forget to do it. It just takes a minute of your time and can really save you lots!

Fruit trees

One sure way to save money and have a much healthier diet is to plant some nice fruit trees. I am thinking about some apply, pear, peach and maybe even some Pomegranate trees would be nice. I would also like to get some blueberry bushes and blackberry bushes as well. I think that my sons would really love being able to just pick their snacks.

60% off of Vera Bradley

Hey I don't know how many of you like Vera Bradley purses and other items like I do but there is a sale for 60% off right now. Thinking about getting another purse. Check them out. They have other things other than purses too and items start around $3. Thought it might be something nice for teachers for Christmas maybe? I don't know how long the sale is going on for so might want to hurry!

May need a diet

I took my boys trick or treating for Halloween. They got sooo much candy its ridiculous. We also bought a bunch of it to hand out but didn't have many kids come by this year for some reason. So guess who has been eating it all? Yeah you guessed right its me! I think that I am going to need some diet pills so that I can fit in my clothes still!

Cheap domain names.

My friend over at allinablog.com has posted a really good discount on domain names. If you are looking for a cheap domain, you really should check it out. I actually have about 5 of them that I want to get but I just have not had the time yet to check it out. I THINK that the code is still good. Go to her site and check it out. If you decide to buy a new domain come back and let me know and leave your new link so that I can check out your new blog as well.

Enter to win a great holiday contest for cash

I am so stoked up to continue my holiday shopping. I already got my 2 oldest sons their big gifts. My 5 year old is getting a Nintendo Game Cube and my 2 year old is getting the Elmo Live. But we still have a lot to get.

Speaking of shopping, there is this really cool contest going on where you can win cash. And who doesn't need cash during the holiday season right? Well eBillme is giving away $1,500 in cash or prizes every month. So check them out and sign up to win. I did and also don't forget to put me down as the site that you got the information from as well. If you do win, come back and tell me about it.

Save those bread bags

Okay I know that this is going to sound more like cheap mom than slick mom, but just have to put this out there.

I recently ran out of gallon sized freezer bags and had to bread some chicken. I can't stand to do it in a bowl or on a plate because you waste so much mix and you also make a huge mess. So what I did is grabbed a bag that a loaf of bread came in. I poured the mix into the bag and as they "shake and bake". It is the perfect size, free and we go through a few loaves a week here in our house so we always have them. It really cuts down on having to buy more freezer bags. I have noticed that they have started going up in price lately. Has anyone else? I also started using Tupperware like containers in the freezer instead of bags. I think it actually helps the meat keep for longer anyway and if you already have them, its free!

Let me know what you think of this money saving tip. Love to hear from you.

Have Fibromyalgia?

You know I am starting to wonder if I have fibromyalgia or not. I have never been tested for it but I sure have a lot of the symptoms and may even have chronic fatigue syndrome which is basically related to fibromyalgia. From what I have been reading, this is a really common problem for women. There are some suplements out there that can really help with ridding yourself of the symptoms. I am really thinking about trying one of them out.

Diapers.com is a cool way to shop for diapers

I just found out about this cool site. It's called diapers.com. Its great for people like me that live in a small town with not much competition when it comes to prices of things like baby needs. We basically have an IGA supermarket, Dollar General, Family Dollar and a CVS. A lot of times CVS does run good sales for their diapers and they are even better if you have coupons to go along with them. But they don't normally carry the larger boxes of diapers where you can save the most money. This site even offers cloth diapers and other diapering needs. They also have the chlorine free diapers for babies that need that too. Pretty cool. They also have free shipping for orders over $49. AND if you use ref code lovemyboys you can get $10 off of your first shipment. Which is cool because the closest WalMart to me is about 17 miles away which costs a lot in gas if you are just going for a box of diapers.

Just thought that I would pass that on to anyone that needed the extra savings.

Looking for inexpensive life insurance

When I quit my full time job to stay home with my kids, we lost most of my life insurance coverage. That is really scary to me with 3 kids, a mortgage and a car that isn't quite paid off yet. I told my husband that we should really starting thinking about looking into some term life insurance quotes. I know that they are a lot cheaper than whole life so it would be easier on us to keep it active just in case it is needed. It sure would put my mind at ease knowing that my kids and husband would be okay if something did happen to me.

Another Restaurant.com discount!!! 80% off!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a new 80% off discount for Restaurant. I have written about them before. They are a site that you can go to and type in your zip code of city and find places that take the Gift Certicates. I used this earlier this month and it was really nice. The code to use is TREATS. This will get you a $25 certificate for only $2!. You can not beat that!
If you use this come back and tell me your experience. I had a great one when we used ours:)

Great site for Medical Diagnostics information

You know, I feel very happy to be born in a time and place where we are able to get excellent medical diagnostics. Having so really can make the difference between either full recovery or possibly death and not diagnosed in time. Johnson and Johnson is a leader in this field. I just went to their site and they have all sorts of information ranging from information on Sports Medicine and trauma all the way to Vision care to Urological surgery and more! They are really there to help the patient. They list diagnostic tests that are helpful and even their partners in health care. I really do think that this is a really helpful site. So if you or yours are having any health concerns check them out.

So excited!!!

Okay, so by now we all know that I am cheap:) But I have been really wanting to go out for dinner for a while now but have not been able to afford it. I just looked up the restaurants listed on restaurant.com and saw that the Sea Food restaurant a bout 2 blocks from my house is on it! I also found a discount code with is MORE for 60% off of the already discounted prices. If you don't already know, Restaurant.com has $25 gift certificates for $10 and also some lower priced ones as well. So I was able to get a $25 gift certificate for just $4 with my discount code. Now I do know that I have to order $35 worth of food to be able to use it, but with my family that is easily done anyway. So it's still a great deal for us. I personally would not call them Gift Certificates but rather coupons because you do have to spend a little bit to be able to use them and I would not give them as a gift to someone else. Although I will buy one for myself as a gift. I can't wait.

Hubby is getting creative and saving some money too

We have had our two computer chairs for about 7 or 8 years now. The padding was starting to get really warn down in one of them and my husband just couldn't stand it anymore. So, he took the chair apart with a screwdriver and then took the cover off of the seat of the chair all of the way down to the padding. We had a few couch cushions that we kept when we got rid of an old couch for the boys to play with so he took one of those to make into the cushion. He cut it to fit and then put the cover back on and stapled it back in place (which is how it was tacked down in the first place). You can't even tell that the chair was ever taken apart! It's like having a new chair again. This chair cost us about $100 when it was new and we just do not have the money to replace it right now. So we saved the couch cushion and the chair from their doom at the landfill. Feeling pretty good about that:)
I told my husband that he is feeling the depression area spirit.

Shop.com is a cool place to shop

I just found this really cool site where they have all sorts of great priced items. You can shop at a lot of your favorite shops and check out using only one cart for more convenience. I found some really nice things in the kids department. They have everything from really nice highchairs to super cute baby costumes for Halloween. The baby costumes start at just $14.99. And to make the prices even sweeter, they even have some really nice coupons that you can use as well. As you probably already know, I love my coupons.

This month they have also teamed up with Lifetime television to Support Breast Cancer Awareness. They are having inspirational product picks, informative blogs and fabulous giveaways. One being a chance to win a KitchenAid Cook for the Cure limited-edition mixer. So check it out and don't forget to enter the giveaway.

Design your own crocs

My two sons have many pairs of those cute little croc shoes. Some of them are starting to look a little bit dingy so I started trying to find ways to make them look nicer. I came accros this really cool thing called Croc-A-Doodle. It's a kit for kids to draw with markers on their crocs. It really looks like a lot of fun to me. So basically they will have one of a kind crocs and they are on sale right now for approx $6 (including shipping) if you use code IPFL8T3E. So go check them out Here. I think that I am going to order a couple of sets.

Thanks to a good friend

I have this really cool friend that has helped me out more than I thought was ever possible. I don't even think that SHE knows how much she has done for me and my family. But I wanted to thank her for her very good advise and help that she has given to me selflessly for the last couple of months. Please check out her List of Paying Surveys. Everything is free and from what I understand you can make a pretty decent amount of cash by doing them. Some of them are a lot of fun as well. Some pay cash and some put you into a cool drawing. So check them out!

Free food for kids at restaurants

Okay things are really tight for a lot of people right now. I thought that this site would be really helpful and I can't wait to use it myself. Eating out with the whole family can get really expensive really, really quick. And half the time my kids are so overwhelmed about going out and excited about all the things going on and the attention that they get because they are so freaking cute that they end up not eating most of the food anyway. Who wants to pay $10+ for kids to get food and not eat it? Not me that is for sure!
Anyway, check out this site. And if you do, leave me a comment and let me know what you think about it.

My CVS run 9/21

Well I went to CVS today to do my deals. I was buying Gatorade, deoderant and bodywash for my hubby. I did not have coupons and only spent approx 6.00 total. This is what I did:
1st transaction: Bought Nivea for men body wash 4.99-4.99 extra care bucks back

2nd transaction: Bought Addidas for men deoderant 4.99-paid with 4.99 ecb and got 4.00 ecb back

3rd transaction: Bought 5-32oz Gatorades (reg. 1.99 each) 5/$5 paid with my 4.00 ecb and another 1.07 out of pocket and got 3.00 ecb back.

So paid 6.00 cash out of pocket and have 3.00 extra care bucks left. Our family has 2 cards so I did this twice at 2 different CVS's. I thought this was a pretty good deal with no coupons to deal with. Oh and a $4/20 coupon printed on my second card as a bonus! lol So I will have $7 towards my next purchase of $20 or more at CVS next time I go. Now I just need to try to look through some coupons for another good deal. I would really like to keep rolling extra care bucks. Hope this helps someone else as well. Our money is VERY tight right now so any way to save a few bucks is great!

Great snack for hurricane stash

If you are looking for a good snack for your family in case of a hurricane or just for regular snacking for that matter check out this deal at CVS this week. SoyJoys are on sale this week for 10/$5. That is .50 each... and there is a printable coupon at http://www.soyjoy.com/specialoffers.aspx for $3 off when you buy 5 bars. So that would make the deal even better! These bars usually run right around $1 each. I have tried them before and they are okay. They are sort of hard and chewy. But they are pretty good for you and will keep pretty well too. I plan on stocking up on some in case of a hurricane. This is one snack that my husband and brother don't like so they will all be for me:)

Great Deal at CVS for Gatorade this week!!!

Well, my hubby is still trying to recuperate from getting his Gall Bladder out this past Thursday so I have been trying to find a good deal on Gatorade. This week starting September 21st, CVS is running a deal on the 32oz size. They are $1.00 and when you buy 5 of them you get $3.00 of Extra Care Bucks back. So 5 Gatorades for $2.00. It is limited to one deal per card though...but hey can't beat that price though.

Cool site to buy coupons

I will tell ya, I never have the cash on me to buy the newspaper on Sunday mornings, and even if I did, I would want more than one for the coupons. So I was looking around and found this really cool site thecouponmaster.com I know there are other sites out there like this and I am about to try them out. I am going to start getting some products that I need with coupons and trying to have overage for other products and if I use them at our local CVS, then I might make some ECB (extra care bucks as well). Money is VERY tight for us right now as I am sure it is for most people right now. If you use a coupon clipping service other than this one, I would love to hear your oppinions about them as well. I am going to look for some good deals and start trying to post them here as well.

Free Bottle of Downy Coupon

Well I like to find things that make my daily tasks cheaper. This is one way of making your laundry cheaper. Get a coupon for free Downy fabric softener for going to this site. If you normally use fabric softener, then you know how much this stuff costs. I don't buy it unless it is on sale or I have a coupon. It gets expensive with so many people on the house. Make your own laundry detergent

Okay so I have made my own laundry detergent. It smells really good too I might add. All of the ingredients should cost about $8 and make a enough detergent for approx. 300 loads. From what I have heard from others that used to be staunch Tide only users, they have now seen that this detergent does as good or better.

What you will need is

1 bar Fels Naptha or other type of soap (can use any bar soap nut this is a large bar and does the best.
1 cup washing soda
1 cup borax powder
~You will also need a bucket (mine is 4-5 gallons). You can get a free one from a grocery store bakery. The one that I got was from the Publix bakery. I just went in and asked if they had any extra buckets with lids that they were otherwise going to throw out. They were very nice and gave me one;)

You will need to grate your bar soap and put it in a pot with about 10 cups of water. Slowly poor in the washing soda and the borax. Heat while stiring until the Fels Naptha is melted. You will need to get your bucket filled with about 3 gallons of hot water. When the mixture is melted, pour it into the bucket and mix. Let sit covered for 24 hours. You are now done and saving money and using a superior laundry soap.

***You can break this recipe in half as well if you don't need as much or have a smaller bucket***

There is a really cool site called Freecycle.org. It is a place where people place an add for an "offer" of something they want to give away. And people that are need of things place "wanted" adds. It is a good way to save money while keeping things out of the landfill. I can not tell you how many things I have given and received. In fact, I got most of my maternity clothes via good old Freecycle. I mean how long do you wear maternity clothes for? Now I am getting ready to place the maternity clothes that I recieved back on there for someone else to be able to enjoy as well. If you haven't already checked them out, you really should.

Sign up to be a bone marrow doner

Okay I thought that it would be a good idea to do a freebie that would do good for other people as well. This is a free kit for a cheek swab kit to be matched for a bone a bone donation. Apparently you usually have to pay for these. I really support things like this and think that it is a way to give back without having to invest money that I personally don't have. I think that it is really nice to possibly be able to save a life and this is a first step in doing so.

I hope this helps someone:)

Free Screenings for Skin Cancer

Free screenings for skin cancer.

If you don't have health insurance and can't afford to go get screened for skin cancer, this is a good resource for you. There are physician's around the country that volunteer their time to do free screenings. We are lucky enough to have health insurance but if we didn't have it, I would go and make my husband go as well as he had a lot of skin cancer in his family. My dad had a skin cancer removed from all places his foot! That is one place that I think that people always forget to cover with sunscreen.

Hope this is a benefit to someone out there.

Free blood glucose meter with strips

My husband went to the doctor the other day and he found out that he has some health issues. One of them being that he may be pre-diabetic. So not wanting to go out and spend the money on a meter, I have found this offer for a free meter and 10 free strips. It should take about 4 weeks to arrive. I hope that this will be useful to others as well.

Hi there! I am Natalie and this is my blog:)I am a momma to three very wild little boys and money is tight at times (most times).

Have you every heard the saying "A penny saved is a penny earned"? Well that will be my motto here on my blog.

I am starting this blog to highlight some of the best freebies and finds that I find. I really love finding a good deal on things and really, really enjoy finding things for free. I'm sure that you are the same way as well.

Well, I hope that what I post here will help you out and hope that you will come back to visit often.
