Family game night

My almost 6 year old has been asking me about having a "family game night" at home. We don't really have many games that kids can play. Mostly things like Risk which are for a lot older kids or adults. It made me start thinking about what we should buy. I have started looking into some things that the whole family would enjoy. My husband suggested we look at some ping pong tables. I know that I loved to go to the Student Union at the University with my dad when I was about my son's age and liked to hit the ball back and forth. It might actually be a good idea:)

Kids activities

Some great things to keep kids occupied during the school year for pretty cheap are taking them to the local park. My kids love it! We are always the first to show up and the last to leave. My kids look like they are about to pass out before we leave. Make sure to take some drink and snacks with you so that you do not have to buy them while you are out. A lot of malls also have great play areas set up so that you can be in the air conditioned area while your kids play. I know our local mall does and we like to take advantage of that. Make sure to bring drinks and snacks there as well as this will cost a lot if you buy it at the mall.

Wish I had remembered!

One thing that I totally forgot to do when I had my last baby was to send out some cute baby announcements. I just got so stressed out working and taking care of my other 2 boys that I just didn't even think about it, it just slipped my mind I guess. I really wish I had though, because I have seen so many cute ones since he arrived. It would have been nice to send them out. It seems like everyone else is doing it too.

Saving money on kids clothes

If you are still looking for clothes for your little ones that are starting a new school year, good places to look are garage sales, consignment shops, and even Craig's list and eBay. I have gotten some really good deals from all of them for my boys. They are so hard on clothes and since they are all boys, I keep all of the clothes (that are worth keeping anyway) and save them for the younger ones. The younger ones think it is "cool" to wear their big brother's clothes that he has grown out of (at least for now) so everything is good:)

Happy Birthday hubby

Today is my husband's birthday. He is the ripe old age of 34. He has stopped smoking cigarettes which I am grateful for, but he has started smoking cigars. I am okay with that as long as he keeps it to a minimum and only smokes them to enjoy and not because he has to because he is addicted.
I know that he would enjoy smoking something special like one of those White Owl cigars. Especially since he has just been smoking those cheapo cigars that you buy in a 5 pack from the minimart.

Hellmanns Sandwich Swap and Share

I just found out about this really cool program where you can build a virtual sandwich on Facebook and Hellmann's and Bestfoods will donate 7 sandwiches. Sandwich Swap 'n' Share program will help to raise money for Feeding America®, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. They as well as Billy Ray Cyrus have teamed up to get the word out to celebrate one of Americas best childhood rituals of trading sandwiches(you know you did it too when you were little). You would go to school and trade with your best friend for their sandwich. Theirs was always better:)
If feeding the hungry is not enough to get you to go over and build a sandwich, maybe winning a $250 grocery store gift certificate will help as well. And for every friend on Facebook® that you share your sandwich with, Hellmann's® and Best Foods® will donate an additional 7 lunches to the charity.

So what are you waiting for? Go build that sandwich!

Here is the link to friend them on Facebook Facebook.com/hellmanns

Losing weight

I have pretty much decided on what I am going to do to lose some weight. When I get up in the morning, I am going to eat a banana. At lunch, I am going to eat a sensible lunch. At dinner time, I am going to eat a banana so that I am not craving food so much and then eat a small dinner. I know that I am going to be sick of bananas when I am done, but they are inexpensive and very filling. I have also been reading some colon cleanse reviews as well. I don't think I am quite ready for that but that might be something to think about.

Save money on text books

If it is still a couple of weeks before classes start. You really aught to look up your book lists. It will have the name, publisher, edition and ISBN so that you can easily find the same book other places. Two great places that I have found are Amazon and also eBay. I am more partial to eBay personally. And you can buy used. Some of the ones that I have been researching today looks like I would save about 60-70% that is a lot too when you think about some of these books being $160.00+. If you haven't gone on line and checked it out, I really suggest that you do. I am sure there are other companies out there as well that sell used text books.

Thought this stroller was cool!

Having 3 small kids can really make things hectic sometimes when going out and about doing errands. While looking around for something a little bit better than my old clumsy umbrella stroller that is really a pain to open up while trying to wrangle the 3 kids, I came across the quinny buzz. Not only does it come in really mod and great colors but it does something that most strollers do not. It actually opens itself! What mom of more than one wouldn't love that?
