Make your own laundry detergent

Okay so I have made my own laundry detergent. It smells really good too I might add. All of the ingredients should cost about $8 and make a enough detergent for approx. 300 loads. From what I have heard from others that used to be staunch Tide only users, they have now seen that this detergent does as good or better.

What you will need is

1 bar Fels Naptha or other type of soap (can use any bar soap nut this is a large bar and does the best.
1 cup washing soda
1 cup borax powder
~You will also need a bucket (mine is 4-5 gallons). You can get a free one from a grocery store bakery. The one that I got was from the Publix bakery. I just went in and asked if they had any extra buckets with lids that they were otherwise going to throw out. They were very nice and gave me one;)

You will need to grate your bar soap and put it in a pot with about 10 cups of water. Slowly poor in the washing soda and the borax. Heat while stiring until the Fels Naptha is melted. You will need to get your bucket filled with about 3 gallons of hot water. When the mixture is melted, pour it into the bucket and mix. Let sit covered for 24 hours. You are now done and saving money and using a superior laundry soap.

***You can break this recipe in half as well if you don't need as much or have a smaller bucket***
